In order to help manage the unwanted symptoms of midlife, whether that’s unwanted weight gain, digestive issues, brain fog, lack of energy or just feeling out of sorts, it’s easy to get caught in a downward spiral. But what will really help, is working on feeling good in our body and appreciating who we are. Practicing a new way of showing up, with love, respect and grace for yourself.
Taking care of yourself sends a powerful message to yourself and others. It shows that you value yourself, you’re worth the time and you respect yourself – because you deserve it. One of the best ways to get healthier in midlife is to enjoy the body you have right now.
A long bath at the end of the evening with your favourite bath oil is great for relieving stress. Reflect on your day and how you’re feeling while you’re truly relaxed.
Rather than just cleaning your face of an evening, turn it into a ritual. Cleanse your face twice. Follow with a toner and invest in a nourishing face oil. With the oil, spend a couple of minutes massaging it into your skin. This is deeply relaxing and great for your skin – which needs more tlc as we age! A rose quartz Gua Sha is a great facial massage tool. With regular use, it helps smooth the skin and remove toxins, which reduces puffiness.
One of my favourite go-to face oil’s is Aurelia London The Probiotic Concentrate
Take 10 minutes for a good dry brushing session to help improve your circulation and remove dead skin. Follow with a shower and a luxurious shower oil.
Nails can get weaker as we age and it can feel great to have manicured nails (if that’s your thing!). If you don’t like to polish your nails, or don’t have time to polish them often, keep your nails healthy by using a cuticle oil regularly. If they need a boost, vitamins and supplements such as biotin and fish oil can help. Always check with a healthcare provider before taking any supplements.
For a healthier manicure, we like Nailberry polishes. Beautiful, feel good colours without the nasty ingredients.
An acupuncture mat boosts energy and circulation, helps anxiety and stress and helps you sleep better! While relaxing on the mat, pressure is applied to various points of the body. By lying on the mat for at least 20 minutes a few times a week acupressure manipulates the body’s meridians restoring balance to the body’s energy flow (qi). I like Yogi Bare Acupressure Mats
Try and schedule at least 10 minutes every day to do something that makes you feel good in your body, as that has a knock on effect for how you show up and the decisions you make.
Remember you’re worth it and you want to feel your best, so be sure to schedule that appointment with yourself!
